blackmans phffft fizza

happy birthday aidan. i love my boy(s)...

pretty unhappy. i rang blackmans today to set up a time to meet up with "dougo" but unfortunately he was completely not interested what so ever in discussing anything to do with the website. i did question him about a few odd bits and piece but it was seriously a no-go situation. i think it is such a shame. not only for me but for them as well.
he explained to me that they were paying monthly for the site. i questioned the fact they didn't have any of the current stock in store on the site and his response was "scott didn't provide us with any details". i responded saying all the information was readily available online but it just drew a blank. so i won't be getting any new bike(s). really disappointed.

scottie went up to the real LBS on saturday for the front derailleur to be fixed / realigned. it cost $10 and when i got it back home it took him for a quick spin. seemed as though it wasn't rubbing but it also wasn't moving into the top chain ring with ease either. again... disappointment.

the white peugeot sold today to a guy with one piece of feedback and that being negative. i also didn't break the $200 mark... disappointment again.
this bastard better pay / pickup within a week. i have 3 roadies i am keen as to buy this week but ... i bet i will be disappointed.

ffs - bad week for bikes

good buy peugeot

another one bites the dust. i was going to take parts from this sucker and use them on hugo but plans change so it is time it went. i re-taped the bars, stuck two new tires and cleaned the shitter out of it. now hes on ebay and within 15mins of him going up someone had put the first bid in so he is going to leave the nest. i hope i can at least recover costs. i am doubtful but. he will have to go for around $245...

bit of an ask realy but hey...

who knows?

UPDATE
well the peugeot is on fire. for the first time every i have had multiple bids on the first day of a listing. i am really hopeful i will make back my money. with 6 days to go it is a magical $174.50 with 19 watches. this will be interesting

Tomac 10th anniversary

i didn't / don't know that much about tomac but from what i have read he sounds like a complete legend x 10. i think he won every discipline of MTB at one point, XC, DH... the works.
he also seemed like the kind of guy that did things his own way, which i have and always will admire. so i was trying to find a dealer in OZ of his bikes but to no avail. i subscribed to his newsletter and today this came in.
there is something serious about this bike that has me hooked. i really love the colour scheme - very yeti - from tomacs roots.
there are only 10 made and 4 are already spoken for and i would hazard a guess that by the time i finish typing this, the other 6 are gobbled up.
the things dreams are made of

This custom bike is built with straight gauge chromoly tubes by Chris Herting and custom painted by Spectrum Powder Works. Featuring the lines and feel of the bike that John Tomac took to the worlds back in the late 90's.

only $5,700 USD which really isn't that bad for a custom made bike

training ...

So the addiction has now been discovered. i want to race MTB. and with all the research i am now of the understanding i really need to pull my finger out and start training so i am going to set a few goals, they won't be much for now but a plans a plan and i am pretty sure i will stick to it.
so.

i need a road bike. i know with the less than none excess amount of cash we have lying around it is going to be tight and it won't be easy to get one but i will. it will be a shit box - but i will build it up and am hoping to eventually swap everything out to make what ever it is a nice retro racer (see the repco)... but why do i need a racer? to ride to work once a week. even though it is only 89km it will be enough to get the training level up. coupled with every day bar thursday to the station i should start to get some serious strength, endurance levels up.
so the goals are pretty simple and are as follows
1. ride to work minimum of once a week
2. build/buy and old skool bike and build it up to a decent retro racer
3. finish the designs for blackmans and approach about contra for the site build
4. compete in a couple more of the WSMTB races at yellomundee

i intend on fixing up scottie next week so he is again able to be ridden MTBing with the possibility of a trip to the city each week until i source the roadie.

scotties in the doctors

so the XT front derailluer arrived but i just couldn't really put it on successfully. its hard to work under the stairs at home with no stand and seriously bad lighting. i did install it but have dropped him off at blackmans to have it adjusted properly.
speaking of blackmans i had a chat to them and it is looking like it may be the go to redesign their site and a contra for a bike is the plan. maybe this bike???

the puch sold so i brought 3 gels and set of leg warmers. probably should have used the money to get a full tilt service on scottie but he's going to have to wait.
